Medium of Instruction in Italian Universities: Spanish & English

Italian is the primary language spoken at academic institutions. In Government and public institutions, it is also the official language. If the course you selected is offered only in Italian, you will be required to show proof of your Italian language skills. The least level needed is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Many Italian schools and institutions are using both Italian and English as a medium. For courses exclusively taught in English, no proof of Italian fluency is necessary. International students need adequate knowledge of English to apply. IELTS score is most commonly required by the universities in Italy. The minimum score requirement ranges from university to university.

In some Italian universities minimum, IELTS score requirement starts from 4 or 5. Apart from IELTS, the TOEFL score can be used to apply to certain universities if that is required by it. Even without an IELTS or TOEFL exam result, international students can attend and study at an Italian institution. Exemptions are granted under specified conditions at each university.

In most cases, if you come from an English-speaking nation, you will not be required to produce an English proficiency test result. It may also be considered for exemption if you have documentation of graduation from an English-speaking school. Every university has its own language requirement. Therefore, before applying to a particular university, you should find the test requirement and scores needed for admission.

Italian Universities Scholarships & Admission Process

If you’ve decided to study at an Italian institution, you’ll need to narrow down your choices to a variety of options. After you’ve decided on an institution to attend, look into the programs available to see if there’s one that interests you.

Moving further toward the next step, you should review the eligibility requirements listed in the selected university’s application procedure because each university has its own distinct eligibility criteria. Some institutions demand a GPA from recent coursework, while others require an SAT or ACT score. As a result, the criteria are entirely dependent on the university to which you are applying.

You must create an applicant account on the application portal after examining the university’s official website and application criteria. To register in the applicant account, fill out the form with all of the required information. Documents must also be attached in the format specified by the criteria. The application fee should be paid before the form can be submitted. Although most institutions do not charge an application fee, some do require payment for certain programs.

After completing the application procedure, you must wait for admission confirmation through email or another appropriate medium. If you are chosen, you must confirm your acceptance with the institution. After you’ve completed all of these steps, you’ll need to apply for a student visa at your nearest Italian Embassy, so you may begin taking lessons in person as soon as possible.

If you are a non-EU citizen living abroad, you should send a pre-application request to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your place of residence, indicating the institution and program you are applying to. The officials will send your paperwork to the institution, and you should check with them to see how and when the findings will be posted. The Embassy will usually post the findings online, or the institution may notify you personally.

Italian scholarship applications are made after acceptance, although some students are automatically picked for scholarships while applying for admission.
